KsTU Conducts Awareness Seminar for Conservancy Staff, Drivers and Security Personnel
Kumasi Technical University (KsTU) Guidance and Counselling Directorate has successfully organized a two-day seminar on awareness for Conservancy Labourers, Drivers and Security Staff as part of efforts to promote a healthy, disciplined and security-conscious workforce in the University community.
The seminar, attended by representatives of different operational units of the University, was aimed at improving their knowledge, well-being, and professional conduct as well as strengthening awareness of safety and security at the workplace.
Support staff are essential to ensure the university functions efficiently, safely and productively, facilitators speaking at the programme stressed. Participants were encouraged to maintain healthy lifestyle, professionalism and vigilance in the discharge of their duties.
Representatives of the Narcotics Control Commission gave enlightening presentations on the dangers of drug and alcohol abuse and other forms of substance misuse. The session stressed the adverse effects of substance abuse on personal health, workplace productivity, family life and general societal development. Participants were educated on preventative measures and encouraged to reach out for help when experiencing issues related to substance use.
The University Clinic health professionals also delivered sessions on health and wellbeing providing practical advice on how to maintain physical and mental health. Topics included healthy lifestyle, stress control, regular health check-ups and importance of timely health care support.
Participants also received training from the University’s Chief Security Officer on essential security and safety practices. Topics included personal security awareness, emergency preparedness, safety measures at work and the shared responsibility of making the campus safe.
The seminar is part of the University’s ongoing commitment to staff development and welfare, stressing the need for continuous education and awareness creation among all categories of employees.
Participants expressed their appreciation to the Guidance and Counselling Directorate for the initiative, saying the programme was informative, timely and beneficial to their professional and personal lives.
